Most of what I make is constructed in a traditional manner and should last for generations. I can design and make fitted and freestanding furniture for kitchens, bedroom, bathroom, dining room and study. Furniture projects are bespoke and made to order in line with clients’ instructions. Close liaison between maker and customer ensures satisfaction. Wooden surfaces have an aesthetic unique appearance, warm to touch and pleasing to the eye, texture and depth of finish can enhance structural details. For hundreds of years these qualities have been appreciated, which is why it’s important, this valuable resource is not squandered. To this end the materials I use are supplied as much as possible from sustainable sources.

Brian Hawkins has been actively in engineering geology/geotechnical engineering for more than thirty years in an academic and practical role, both in the UK and abroad. Appointed Reader in Engineering Geology at the University of Bristol in 1979, he supervised many PhD students working on: slope stability problems in engineering soils and engineering rocks; ground chemistry – particularly the development of ground sulphates the stability/remediation of mines and tunnels. He is frequently invited to lecture at Universities and International Conferences and to be involved in field visits, eg the Jinping Hydroelectric scheme in South West China. Most recently much of his time has been involved with legal work – preparing Opinions and giving oral evidence at mediations, arbitrations and in both the Commercial and Crown Courts. This work has mainly been related to slope problems and ground chemistry.
