The Trustees of Bristol Municipal Charities were formed as a result of the Municipal Corporations (Reform) Act of 1835 and their first meeting was held in November 1836. They assumed responsibility for the administration of the Charities which, until that date, had been under the control of the Corporation of Bristol. We help unemployed people, disadvantaged people, refugees and others concentrating on helping people into work. our activities range from operating apprenticeships to environmental issues like recycling, all of which are 'Serving the community'. Our roots go back to 1983 when members of the Bristol North West Scout District formed the charity in response to a government initiative to assist the unemployed.
