Great atmosphere in clean, comfortable surroundings and always with a warm welcome of course. Our chef who has worked in some of the finest eating places receiving regular rave reviews has created an exciting menu with new dishes and some traditional favourites all at very reasonable prices. We use local fresh produce which is cooked to order. We do not use microwaves.

79 years after the closure of Windsor’s last brewery, we are delighted to be bringing brewing back to Windsor. Our brewery is within sight of Windsor Castle and we hope that our ales will prove to be a great hit for locals and many of the 17 million visitors who come to Windsor and Eton each year. When Burge’s Brewery closed its doors in 1931, it brought to an end a tradition of Windsor brewing that had lasted for well over 300 years. We managed to create a new brewery from scratch in just seven weeks. On the 1st March 2010, St David’s Day, we began installing the brewing vessels and on 23rd April 2010, St George’s Day, pubs started selling Guardsman best bitter. We are beginning to think we might have a bit of saintly help!

When William Moorhouse founded Moorhouse’s in 1865, in premises not far from the present production site, on the opposite side of Accrington Road, he produced mineral waters, which were sold in bottles and half-gallon jars. By 1870 the business was doing so well that William decided to build his own premises and relocated to the building that we occupy today. This brewery was purpose-built as a drinks-manufacturing site, with the terraced houses on either side being added later to house workers and members of the Moorhouse family. In its original layout, incorporated into the brewery buildings were the stables in which the delivery dray horses were kept.
Adam Summerskill first established a 2.5 Barrel brewery in his vineyard in St. Anne's Chapel, Bigbury in 1983. In 1984 he moved it to the White Lion in Stonehouse, Plymouth and again it was moved to 1985 to it's present premises, where it was also expanded to a 10 Barrel brew length with the purchase of the redundant Penrhos Brewery kit (Penrhos was owned by Terry Jones of Monty Python fame).

Batemans Brewery is one of the country’s oldest family breweries. It is based on an old windmill, dating back two centuries and overlooks the River Steeping. Definitely THE most picturesque of breweries. A trip to Batemans gives you the unique opportunity to view this old building. There are tours around the Victorian brewhouse, where much of the equipment is made of brass and copper. The tour is fun and humorous and there is also a magnificent new brewhouse and its inscribed bricks. Opened in 2002, it is nicknamed ‘The Theatre of Beers’, an idea allegedly borrowed by a certain Manchester football club, which calls its stadium ‘The Theatre of Dreams’! There are attractions for all the family in the indoor games area where old traditional pub games can be found, not seen for years and which never fail to inspire young and old alike ~ Shove Shive, Bagatelle, Ring the Bull’s Nose.
