At Athene, we believe this means placing engagement and communication at the heart of your organisation’s strategy, not as an added extra. We also know that to be effective, engagement strategies must centre on the core values of trust, responsibility and customer focus - not spin - and must embrace all audiences, both internal and external. All too often, organisations develop their strategies and plans and then turn to their communications team to tell people about them. However, this tactical, last minute approach is rarely effective. At Athene, we believe that communication must be integral to the development of any strategy, influencing its nature and addressing the issues and challenges upfront. This way, communication becomes as a key enabler of success.

Asist was formed in early 1994 from a steering committee made up of various voluntary bodies and interested parties. It is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. The organisation is governed by an Executive Committee made up of people from the voluntary sector along with other members of the community. If you are interested in Advocacy and want to be part of Asist you can always be a member of our executive. It meets every other month in the evening in Stafford. We do not use executive members as unpaid staff; their duty is to make policy. We particularly welcome applications from service users and members from the ethnic minorities - both groups are very under represented on our executive.
Our members are women from all backgrounds who seek to create a self-led organisation to gain ownership of our own destiny. WSSAG is a group where women can come and meet and learn from one another and share experiences with total confidence, also making friends and connections.
